What nearshore means in practice
Nearshore means the team sits in a neighboring country with working hours close to yours. For US companies, Mexico is the clearest case. Since its 2022 time-zone law, most of Mexico, including Mexico City, Guadalajara and Monterrey, stays on UTC-6 all year. That matches US Central in winter and US Mountain in summer.
There are exceptions. Quintana Roo stays on UTC-5 and Sonora on UTC-7, while Baja California and a strip of border municipalities still change clocks with the US. Either way, a team in Mexico shares most of your working day, and its shift start can move to cover the rest.
